Dice Chess for Fire TV is in a tester round before its release. The builds are pre-releases: free, in English, and still changing.

On a Fire TV Stick: Live App Testing

Owners of a Fire TV Stick 4K Select or a Fire TV Stick HD (2nd generation) can install the game from the Amazon Appstore by invitation, without developer mode or a computer:

  1. Write to hello@fortemate.com with the email address of the Amazon account your Stick is registered to. Amazon asks that testers be at least 18, so a child plays on a parent’s Stick.
  2. Amazon sends an invitation to that address, and a notification to the Stick.
  3. Open the link in the email for your country’s Appstore, choose your Stick under Send to Device, and the game installs like any other app.

If the game does not appear, open Settings → My Account → Sync Amazon Content on the Stick. The Stick is listed only if it is sold in your country’s Amazon store.

In developer mode or on the Virtual Device

Each pre-release on GitHub carries three packages: one for a Fire TV Stick in developer mode, and two for the Vega Virtual Device, on a Mac with Apple silicon and on Linux or an Intel Mac. Installing them needs the vega command line from Amazon’s Vega SDK. The playtest guide has the steps.

What to try

  • How to play, the five-lesson tutorial, before anything else.
  • A game against the computer: Rolly (easy), Grabby (medium) or Rampage (hard).
  • A hotseat game with someone else in the room, passing the remote.
  • Rules, to look something up.
  • The music as a game gets tense, and Settings for the music and the sound effects.

Tell us what you found

  • Without an account: the anonymous form.
  • With a GitHub account: Discussions. Tell us what happened in a game under General, share an idea under Ideas, and ask for help with installing under Q&A.

Say which build you played, and whether on a Fire TV Stick or on the Virtual Device. What confused you is as useful as what broke.

What this build is

  • Tested on the Vega Virtual Device so far, and not yet on a Fire TV Stick.
  • Private: it has no network code, no accounts and no analytics. Games, results and settings stay on the TV.
  • English only for now.
